Know the Samosa Recipe for This New Year

For the dough:

  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1/4 cup ghee or vegetable oil
  3. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  4. Water (as needed)

Know the Pistachio Martini Recipe

For the filling:

  1. 3 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
  2. 1 cup peas (fresh or frozen)
  3. 1 tablespoon oil
  4. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  5. 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  6. 1 onion, finely chopped
  7. 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  8. 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  9. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  10. 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  11. 1 teaspoon garam masala
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  14. Oil for frying


  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • Within a mixing bowl large enough mix the all-purpose flour with salt and Ghee.
    • Add water gradually and mix the dough into an elastic and smooth dough.
    • The dough should be covered with damp towel and let it sit for a minimum of 30 mins.
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a pan, heat oil on medium flame.
    • Incorporate mustard seeds and cumin seeds, and let them disperse.
    • Add chopped green chilies and chopped onions cook until the onion become golden brown.
    • Add the paste of ginger and garlic, stir to cook till the smell goes away.
    • Incorporate turmeric powder and ground coriander and garam masala. Mix thoroughly.
    • Add potatoes and peas and mix all ingredients thoroughly.
    • Add salt and cook an additional 5 to 7 minutes.
    • Then, garnish with fresh coriander leaves, then set the salad aside and let it cool.
  3. Assemble the Samosas:
    • Divide the dough that has been rested into smaller, equal-sized balls.
    • Each ball is rolled into an oval or a round shape.
    • Cut the dough roll in half, making two semi-circles.
    • The Straight edge of the semicircle by water.
    • Make a cone through folding the half-circle inwards and sealing the edge with water.
    • Make sure to fill the cone up with potato-pea mix, leaving a gap on the top.
    • Seal the edge that is open of the cone by pressing the edges together to ensure a seal.
  4. Deep Fry the Samosas:
    • The oil can be heated in an oil fryer or deep pan up to 350degF (175degC).
    • Then gently slide the samosas you’ve prepared in the oil in small portions at a stretch.
    • Then fry until golden brown and crispy, turning them over frequently to ensure even cooking.
    • Utilizing a slotted spoon remove the samosas, then place them on a towel to absorb the oil.
  5. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Cool the samosas for a couple of minutes prior to serving.
    • Serve with mint Chutney, tamarind sauce or a dip of your choice.
